The 10-Year Vision
Bastrop County is emerging as the physical backbone of the AI revolution, sitting alongside Tesla, SpaceX, and a next-generation entertainment corridor.
The Challenge
Bastrop was growing quickly—over 64% since 2010—but the commercial tax base wasn't keeping pace. Residential property taxes bore the burden of infrastructure and school expansion. The raw land that would eventually become a multibillion-dollar campus was generating only $25,000 a year in tax revenue. Underfunded schools meant teachers were commuting out to Austin, and local students had few local pathways to high-wage tech careers.
The Turning Point
When EdgeConneX evaluated 535 sites globally for its next mega-campus, Bastrop's leaders negotiated from a position of strength. They chose maximum economic benefit with minimum community disruption. Unlike massive factories that require thousands of commuters, a data center campus employs about 60 permanent specialized roles per phase—triggering zero housing crises while pouring over $100 million into Bastrop ISD during the abatement period alone.
The Corridor
Today, Bastrop County is the heart of the Central Texas Technology Corridor. We are building the AI infrastructure for the nation and advancing toward next-generation chip design and fabrication. Parallel to this, we are fostering a massive film and entertainment capital through Wyldwood and Line204.
We are building a community where your children don't have to leave to build great careers.
The Trajectory
