About Building Bastrop County

I moved to Bastrop County because of what it is, the Lost Pines, the Colorado River, Friday night lights, the kind of place where people still wave from their trucks. I don't want that to disappear. But I also know that fighting growth entirely isn't the answer. Growth is coming whether we like it or not. The question is whether we shape it or let it shape us.

This site exists because I believe Bastrop County can become the most compelling place in Texas to build a career, raise a family, and grow a business, without losing its soul. But only if residents have the real data, not just the loudest voices.

When a $5 billion data center campus picks your county over 534 other sites, that isn't something that happens to you, it happens for you. But only if you know about it. Only if you understand the Chapter 313 abatement structure that guarantees $100 million to Bastrop ISD during the abatement period alone. Only if you know that 2,000+ construction jobs and 500+ permanent high-skill careers paying $70K–$120K are being created within 15 minutes of your house.

Most residents don't know these numbers. They hear "data center" and think of their water being drained and their roads being ruined. They deserve better information, and better information is what this site provides.

Let's be honest about it. When a single data center campus generates more tax revenue than thousands of acres of raw ranchland ever could, that shifts the burden off residential homeowners. That's not theory, that's math. Land that was producing $25,000 a year in property tax revenue will produce millions. That new revenue funds schools, roads, fire departments, and EMS without raising your rate.

Every page on this site is built around a simple question: does this development make life better or worse for the people who already live here? The data overwhelmingly says better, but you shouldn't take my word for it. Read the numbers yourself.
